Dorval Takes Part in the 6th edition of the Renaissance Challenge
Dorval, April 17, 2012 – From April 22 to May 19, 2012, the City of Dorval will be taking up the Renaissance Challenge, launched by the non-profit organization Renaissance. Last fall, Dorval was awarded first place for the most donations per 1,000 residents. The 6th edition of this friendly challenge is being held under the theme “Give a second life to your goods, so that people can have a second chance”. The municipality is therefore inviting residents to drop off donations of clothing and reusable goods during that period at the Dorval Renaissance Station, located at 707 Lakeshore Drive, from Monday to Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
At the end of the contest, Renaissance will tally the results and reward winning municipalities with prizes for the most overall donations, for the most donations per 1,000 residents, and for the best improvement since the previous edition.
All the recovered goods will be sorted, ticketed, and sold at low prices through the network of nine Fripe-Prix community boutiques. All of the proceeds from the sales will be used to finance the paid job training programs for the integration into the workforce of able and motivated people of various backgrounds.
Renaissance accepts all clothing and household objects in good condition: clothing for all ages and sizes, jewellery, furniture, lamps, household accessories (frames, knick-knacks), dishes, pots and pans, bedding (sheets, blankets, comforters), small electrical appliances (toasters, kettles, irons, mixers), sports equipment, shoes, purses, hats, toys, books, clocks, gardening tools, curtains, blinds, records, CDs, televisions, DVD players, and VCRs. Not accepted: batteries, large appliances, paint, solvents, and tires.
