Inspection of Fire Hydrants and Rust-Coloured Water

Dorval, June 4, 2012 – From June 4 to July 13, 2012, the firm Aqua Data, mandated by the City of Dorval, will proceed to a full scale inspection of the fire hydrants throughout the municipality to insure that the security standards are met in case of fire. The inspections will take place from Monday to Friday, between 7 am and 3:30 p.m.

What does the process involve?
With a mirror system, Aqua Data verifies the internal mechanism of each fire hydrant, measures the water pressure, and advises of any required intervention on each fire hydrant.  All of this is to insure your safety in case of fire.

Consequently, you could experience a temporary slight loss of water pressure and your water could also be rust coloured. This may cause some inconvenience such as stains on fabrics. However, there is no risk for your health.

What you should do if your water is rust coloured?
The City of Dorval suggests that you leave the cold water running until the water loses its coloration. As it is a large scale operation covering the entire city, you might experience this in several occasions during the work period. You can do your laundry and dishes after hours and days above-mentioned as no work is carried out between these hours.

For additional information, please contact Public Works at 514 633-4046.

The City of Dorval apologizes for the inconveniences associated with this work necessary to maintain the quality of service, and thanks you for your understanding.
