The municipal council is made up of a mayor and six councillors elected every four years. Its responsibilities include urban development, public consultation and information, fire prevention, financial support to local economic, community, and social development agencies, the management of green spaces and local sports, leisure, and culture facilities, the organization of leisure, sports, and socio-cultural activities, public works, and issuance of permits.

The municipal council holds monthly public meetings in the Council Chamber of City Hall, at 8 p.m. These meetings are open to the public and a question period is set aside for residents. The agenda of the meeting is available at City Hall the morning of the meeting.
