Municipal Taxes

  • New property owners must pay a tax on real estate transfers. This tax is payable within thirty (30) days after the invoice is sent out by the City. It is based on either the sale price or the standardized municipal evaluation, whichever is highest.

  • Municipal taxes are levied on buildings and land, and are based on the municipal valuation which is established by the Evaluation Department of the City of Montreal.

Please note that as of 2009, taxpayers will be receiving only one tax bill, that of the City of Dorval, which will include the amounts that are payable to the Agglomeration. Payment instructions are indicated on the bill.
