Smoke Detector Promotional Program in Dorval Dorval, July 19, 2010 – The Service de sécurité incendie de Montréal (Montreal’s Fire Department) has begun its residential visits in Dorval as part of its smoke detector promotional program that is taking place throughout the summer. Fire fighters from station 62 and 63, as well as four members of a special smoke detector squad, made up of fire prevention students, goes door to door to meet Dorval residents in their homes in order to emphasize the importance of having a smoke detector. At the same time, fire prevention agents inspect buildings of 12 housing units or more to meet the objectives of the fire safety cover plan of the Agglomeration of Montreal. Letters are sent to building owners notifying them of the eventual inspection. In all cases, the mission is the same: participate in the Fire Department’s efforts in trying to increase the number of smoke detectors found in the City’s residences. Mayor Edgar Rouleau wishes success to the smoke detector squad and reminds Dorval residents that it is crucial to have a functioning smoke detector in their house, because their safety and the safety of their household are at stake.
