New Phase of Work on Cardinal Avenue Starting July 3

The City of Montreall is continuing to build a bike path and undertake various upgrading work on the roads and lighting on Cardinal Avenue, between Albert-de-Niverville and des Sources boulevards.

New phase of work
A new phase of work will begin on July 3, between Thorncrest and Saint-Louis avenues, including the upgrading of traffic lights at Pine Beach. Note that some work from phase 1 will continue on the bike path towards Albert-de-Niverville, but will not affect traffic in the sector.

Work duration and schedule - Phase 2

  • July 3 to end of July
  • Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

IMPACTS

- Traffic:

  • Cardinal Avenue, between Thorncrest and Saint-Louis
    • WESTBOUND traffic maintained. Reduce speed in work area.
    • EASTBOUND, detour via Saint-Louis, Surrey, and Thorncrest
  • Access to Pine Beach Station
    • The station will be accessible only for motorists driving west (or driving east via the detour)
    • Drop-off traffic flow will be inverted, becoming westbound.
    • A flagger will be on-site in the morning rush hour and police officers will also be present in the evening rush hour to ensure smooth traffic flow and pedestrian safety
    • Pedestrians can walk on the north sidewalk on Cardinal.

- Parking: Parking restrictions in the work area.
- Access: Homes and businesses will remain accessible.
- Noise and dust: Noise and dust may be generated by trucks driving in the work area. Hosing will be done when needed.
- Public transport: Some bus routes or schedules may change during the work. Contact STM-INFO: 514 786-4636 or stm.info
- Water shutoff: Water shutoffs are not foreseen as part of this work.
- Garbage and recycling collection: Service maintained.
