The City of Dorval offers a program that allows its citizens to adopt a park bench on its territory.
More precisely, any person can adopt a bench as long as the person adopting or the event or person to whom it is dedicated, has a direct link with life in Dorval. Benches are located at Millennium, Pine Beach, and Valois parks as well at the City’s Arboretum situated behind the Library. Most locations offer a view on the lake. A plaque, on which a dedicated message can be written, will be installed on the adopted bench. The person or the subject to whom the message is dedicated must have a direct link with the life in Dorval.
Costs vary, depending on the bench style and location, and include taxes:
Regular (standard bench): $400
• Millennium Park
• Pine Beach Park
• Valois Park
Prime location: $1000
• Arboretum
The City commits to maintaining the bench for a period of 20 years. The eventual replacement of the plaque remains at the client’s cost.
Once they have identified the desired location and bench that they wish to adopt, interested parties must contact the City representative, at 514 633-4000, and verify the bench’s availability. Then, an appointment will be set to fill out the adoption agreement, review the plaque inscription, and proceed with payment.
