The Dorval Historical Society

The Dorval Historical Society is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of Dorval’s history. Volunteers are present on Wednesday mornings at the Community Centre to help people who wish to consult the Society’s archives.

It also publishes Heritage Dorval, an annual journal of accounts and anecdotes drawn from local history. Heritage Dorval can be purchased for $5.00 at the Dorval Museum of Local History and Heritage or at the Historical Society locale in the SDCC.

The Historical Society participates in several events including The Montreal Architectural Heritage campaign, the Journées de la culture and Rendez-vous. In the summer months, the group organizes tours of old Dorval homes and historic sites. It has also produced a 5 km walking-tour guide of Dorval. It is available in municipal buildings.

Members of the Historical Society meet at the SDCC five times a year.

The annual membership card is $10.00.

Dorval Heritage Guide

Discover the historical sites and the heritage buildings of our community along the surface of earth now called Lakeshore Drive.

Get your copy of the heritage guide with information compiled carefully by the Dorval Historical Society and follow the 5 km course that will bring you back to the time of Dorval’s origins as an essentially agricultural community up to its incorporation in the 1800’s.

The guide is available, at no cost, in all municipal buildings.
