Volunteer screening
Open sessions will be held May 7, June 12 and August 13 at the SDCC between 18:00 -21:00 to provide volunteers the opportunity to be screened. It is also possible to be screened on weekdays between 8:30 am to 16:30 pm at the Sarto Desnoyers Community Centre. Each of our volunteers must be screened every three years.
Volunteers must provide two pieces of identification and the name, address, telephone number of two references.
For volunteers from Hockey West Island and Baseball West Island, we will screen volunteers residing in Dorval and to the east and the City of Pointe-Claire will screen volunteers residing in Pointe-Claire and to the west.
Following considerable research conducted by volunteers and city personnel, the Dorval Athletic Association established a volunteer screening policy for its’ member associations almost fifteen years ago.
In 2005, this program was extended to include volunteers from all Leisure and Culture Programs. Dorval’s Volunteer Screening program considers the safety and well-being of the participant, the organization and the community while promoting our volunteers as caring, competent, respectable and qualified to look after the leisure needs of our citizens.
Throughout the screening process, paramount importance is placed on the confidentiality of all information received. Open sessions are held regularly to provide volunteers the opportunity to be screened. It is also possible to do so at the SDCC office on weekdays between 8:30 and 16:30. For further information, please contact the Leisure and Culture Department at 514 633-4000.
