Milk Run
May 17 - August 25, 2013

The public is invited to follow the evolution of a milk bottle as it travels from the factory to the kitchen. This exhibit explores the job of the milkman who on a daily basis travelled the length and breadth of Montreal to deliver milk to families. All are invited to attend the opening on Thursday, May 16 at 19:00.
Presented in collaboration with the Conseil des Arts de Montréal.

Treasures From the Richelieu River
February 8 to May 5, 2013
The Richelieu River, a historically important waterway linking Quebec to New York, and a route over which various armies and fleets passed during the French and Indian War, the American Revolution, and the War of 1812, has relinquished many of its historical artifacts and treasures to two divers who have loaned these items to the Dorval Museum. Come discover what the river has revealed: military badges and buttons, coins from various eras and countries, personal items such as shoe buckles, clay pipes, lead dice and gaming pieces, among other artifacts dating from the 1750s to the mid-1800s.
Christmas Sparkles!

The Dorval Museum of Local History and Heritage presents its annual Christmas exhibition Christmas Sparkles! where this year we invite you to discover a retro Christmas of the 1960s featuring aluminum Christmas trees! Like the boomerang, the Formica kitchen table top and the TV dinner, these shiny Christmas trees are sure to conjure up warm, nostalgic memories of the 60s, or will simply fascinate you by their space-age qualities or campy appearance. Regardless of the reason, the aluminum Christmas tree has managed to endure changing tastes and times.
The exhibit opens Sunday November 25th at 1 p.m.
The children’s Cantamos Choir from Gentilly School will sing Christmas carols and other festive songs, beginning at 1:30 p.m. All are warmly welcome to attend and help make the season bright.
The Story of Perfume
September 6 to November 11, 2012

Discover the evolution of olfactory art throughout the ages and the five great perfumers who significantly shaped the world of perfume. Inspired by the times, the milestones of modern perfumery each tell a story of their era.
All are invited to the exhibit opening on Thursday, September 6 at 19:00.
Workshops on perfume, Sunday, September 30th and October 28th. In English at 14:00 and in French at 15:00. To register please call 514-633-4170. Space is limited.

The Mayor and Council Over the Years
June 14 until August 26, 2012
From its humble beginnings as a pumping station, the venerable building which now houses Dorval’s City Hall has been witness to many years
of resolutions, meetings and city councils. Its foundations are the seat of democratic life in Dorval. It has quite the story to tell!

Tinker, Tailor, Farmer, Sailor

Come learn about the first farmers and residents of the Village of Dorval who plied their various trades and contributed to making Dorval what it has become today. All are invited to the official opening on Friday, February 10th at 7 p.m.
A Child's Christmas

The Dorval Museum of Local History and Heritage presents its annual Christmas exhibition where this year we invite you to come and experience the delight of a child at Christmastime. Toy trains, Meccano sets and vintage dolls are some of the charming items on display that await the visitor. Come reminisce with our Museum guides about your memories of Christmases past and what traditions are held dear.

School Days
February 11, 2011 – May 29, 2011
*The exhibition “School Days” has been extended until May 29th due to popular demand and to give school groups the opportunity to come and visit.

The rhythm of a student’s day from yesteryear was dictated by spelling tests, arithmetic, history and geography, poetry, crafts, gym. During this temporary exhibition, take a fond look back at the textbooks, class photos, resource materials and school supplies used in Dorval schools in the past. All are invited to the opening of the exhibition on Friday, February 11th at 19:00.
