Environment and Gardening Day

Saturday, May 20
In the Sarto-Desnoyers Community Centre parking lot

(1335 chemin du Bord-du-Lac—Lakeshore)

The popular Dorval Environment and Gardening Day will brighten up your spring on Saturday, May 20. The event, which will be held in the Sarto-Desnoyers Community Centre parking lot (1335 chemin du Bord-du-Lac—Lakeshore) and on the surrounding fields, will offer:

1) Free compost distribution

  • From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (or while supplies last)
  • Bring your own container and shovel. A maximum quantity of 200 litres of compost per residence will be given out, which is approximately the equivalent of an average-size green wheeled bin.
  • The citizen card or another proof of residence will be required.
  • Dorval Scouts will be on site to help fill your containers.

2) Free distribution of wood shavings (for mulch)

  • From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (or while supplies last)

3) Sale of perennials (by the Dorval Horticultural and Ecological Society)

  • From 9 a.m. to noon

4) Environmental kiosks

  • Information on horticultural, environmental, and gardening subjects
  • Pollinator friendly informative kiosk (from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.)
  • Recycling of various items
    • Bicycles
    • Batteries (rechargeable or not), and ink cartridges
    • Broken children’s toys
    • Items for babies (pacifiers, bottles, silicone items, etc.)
    • Broken kitchen items (pots and pans, utensils, plates, cups, etc.)
  • Many more
