Annual Leaf Pickups

Published on 09-25-2018

This fall, the City of Dorval will once again hold its leaf-pickup program as a way to improve its waste reduction effort and create compost. Single-family dwellings will therefore receive five biodegradable paper bags by mid-October.

We ask that you please place your bags of leaves near the street for pickup during any of the special collections, which will take place on the following Wednesdays: October 24 and 31, as well as November 7, 14, and 21.

Take note that your bags must not be put out before 7 p.m. on the eve of the collection day. Furthermore, only big paper bags (the ones distributed by the City of Dorval and others sold at various stores) will be collected in these special pickups. Even if it is sometimes written on certain compostable plastic bags made of corn or starch that they are compatible with municipal pickups, this information is false and they will not be picked up.

Leaves that are placed in plastic bags will not be collected by these special pickups, nor by the household waste pickup on Thursday. You must dispose of your leaves in the appropriate manner to have them picked up.

In addition to contributing to waste reduction, the resulting compost will be used by Dorval in its gardens and flower beds. As well, a free compost distribution will most probably take place again next spring.

A limited quantity of additional paper bags will be available at City Hall (60 Martin Avenue), at a cost of 50¢ each (tax included). For information, please call 514 633-4046.
