Regulations for Motorised Mobility Aids

Published on 09-04-2018

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Land Occupancy has announced the extension of a pilot project pertaining to motorised mobility aids until June 1, 2020. This extension will allow the ministry to determine permanent rules to be added to the Highway Safety Code. In the meantime, users of three or four wheeled scooters and wheelchairs must continue to adhere to the traffic rules established as part of the pilot project. These rules are presented on the page of the Ministry’s website which is dedicated to the pilot project. They are also summarized on this flyer (French only) which may be downloaded at the same location.

As the new school year begins, we remind users of motorized mobility aids as well as all other road users to respect the established rules and adopt a courteous manner when travelling on public roads.
