It is with great pride that the City of Dorval announces that it has received the 5 Blooms – Bronze rating as well as a special mention for its topiaries project during the 23rd edition of the Communities in Bloom National & International Awards Ceremonies.
The ceremonies were held on September 16 in Ottawa and paid homage to communities from all across Canada and the United States, as well as Northern Ireland, Belgium, Ireland, Croatia and Italy.
Communities in Bloom is committed to fostering civic pride, environmental responsibility, and beautification through community involvement. Its focus is on the enhancement of green spaces in communities. During the summer, trained volunteer judges evaluate the overall contributions of the community. Following their visit to the City, judges Lorna McIlroy and Normand Fleury underlined the teams’ splendid work, talent, and pride: “The City of Dorval is proud of its past and takes great care of it. The City has 19 very well-maintained parks and its horticultural employees have shown their skills in the creation of 10 topiaries spread across the city.”
For his part, the Mayor of the City, Edgar Rouleau, had nothing but positive things to say about his teams: “This project, realized in collaboration with Dorval Main Streets, was a resounding success thanks to the work and passion of our Public Works employees. We are very proud of this mention, which is to their credit! This is yet another reason why it’s great to live in Dorval!”
