First Citizen Resource Fair

Sunday, October 1, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., as part of the International Seniors Day
At the Sarto-Desnoyers Community Centre

(1335 chemin du Bord-du-Lac–Lakeshore)

We are very happy to announce that the First Citizen Resource Fair is back this year. Its mission is to promote a healthy and active lifestyle among our seniors, as well as to offer our visitors the opportunity to collect a wide range of educational information to promote healthy aging and embrace the “golden years”. It is also a great opportunity for socialization. Seniors, caregivers, children, and grandchildren are invited to come and have a look!

Come and meet a number of exhibitors from a wide variety of public, community, and private sectors, all with the objective of encouraging our seniors’ well-being. Through the visit of the various kiosks, you will be able to collect important information on the leisure activities offered to our 55 and over population, on financial services, on health care for seniors, on residences for First Citizens, and much more.

Special Conferences:

10 a.m. to 11 a.m.: Passionate and talented Jocelyne Cazin
Unfortunately, for reasons beyond our control, Mrs. Cazin will not be present for her conference during the event. The good news is that we have found a great replacement in Isabelle Huot, PhD in nutrition (see below).

10 a.m. to 11 a.m.: Isabelle Huot, PhD in nutrition
Isabelle Huot, lecturer, is probably THE most famous PhD in nutrition in Quebec. Regular columnist for the show Salut Bonjour!, she wishes to raise awareness on how to make better food choices for your health. During the conference, she will share her best tricks and advice on healthy eating. Relations between a healthy, balanced diet and overall health will be explained. You'll discover how easy it can be to eat healthy!

2 p.m. to 3 p.m.: Clinical Research Professional Sherezad Abadi Perez
She will discuss the links between overall mental and physical health and exercise, specifically how to keep an active mind. She will explain how to distinguish the natural course of aging and its impact on cognitive functions (for example, memory) from dementia. She will discuss strategies to keep the brain “fit” and active.

Admission to the Resource Fair is free and conference seats will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Don’t miss the chance to participate in this great event and celebrate International Seniors Day in style with us!
