In Dorval, we have the environment at heart. The mission of our city staff, renowned for its expertise in ecological gardening, is to improve the health of plants with appropriate gardening methods.
During the summer, an eco-technician is available to assist residents in adopting new lawn-care methods and to provide them with pesticides-free alternatives. To contact the City of Dorval’s Green Line, call at 514 633-4018 or write at greenline@ville.dorval.qc.ca.
Since 2005, every contractor providing lawn care services or exterminator must register with the City of Dorval. This register is useful to know the companies working on the Dorval territory. The register is not considered a reference guaranteeing a quality service offered by the contractors.
You must verify yourself if the contractor you wish to hire is adequately registered with the City.
It is also important that citizens do their part in preserving the many green spaces in Dorval by adopting a new and safer approach towards the environment.

Open to all Dorval residents
It is with much enthusiasm - and thanks to the green thumbs of its blue-collar employees - that the City of Dorval has planted two collective gardens, behind the Sarto-Desnoyers Community Centre.
Residents are invited to pick the fruits and vegetables from these gardens, all in a spirit of sharing and neighbourliness, and to also maintain the crops. Help yourselves (while you respectively leave some for others) and if you happen to be a garden expert and you spot some bad weeds, don't hesitate to pull them out!
Happy gardening!
To Dorval residents who would love to grow their own organic vegetables but don't have the space, the City offers 50 plots (3m X 6m), including two plots for persons with a disability, located on Thorncrest Avenue North.
Each plot is available for $25 per year, or $20 for first citizens, which runs from October 1 to September 30. Contact the Sarto-Desnoyers Community Centre for all the details.

The use of pesticides outside buildings is prohibited.
Prohibited products may be used in certain exceptional situations, all of which are out-lined in the by-law:
Anyone wishing to use pesticides to control an infestation, vermin, spiders, or ants must first obtain a permit.
It costs $10 for an individual and $25 for a corporation to purchase a permit from the municipality. Such a permit is valid for a maximum of 10 days from the date of issue and comes with a number of strict conditions.
Any person who contravenes this by-law is guilty of an offence and is liable to a fine.
