The Fund to Assist and Support Dorval Citizens’ mission is to help Dorval residents of all ages in order to encourage their personal accomplishments in regards to culture, arts, sports, and leisure. A second component of the Fund also allows for support towards the development of the City’s parks.
Evaluation Committee
The committee in charge of evaluating the requests is made up of the following persons:
Three municipal council members
Two employees of the City’s Leisure and Culture Department
One employee of the City’s Community Aid Division
One member of the Dorval Athletic Association’s executive committee
Four Dorval citizens
Eligibility Criteria
The applicant must be a Dorval citizen.
The applicant must complete and submit the official form to the City of Dorval.
The request must be for an individual and not for a group, a team, or an organization. However, an individual who is part of a group or a sports team can submit a request (e.g. water polo, soccer, etc.).
If the request is made by an applicant under the age of 18, the approval of a parent or legal guardian is required.
The request must include details concerning incurred expenses (with supporting documents) related to the activity, other sources of solicited or granted revenues, the description of the event, and related costs (local, provincial, national, or international), according to the nature of the request.
The financial assistance cannot exceed $5,000.
An applicant cannot receive more than one contribution per calendar year, per discipline, as of the date of payment by the Fund.
The request can be for past needs (in the 12 months preceding the request date).
Note: All requests concerning parks must be submitted through a member of the City’s park committee.
Financial Assistance Will Be Granted in Such Cases As
Competition costs
Performance costs (equipment, instrument)
Travel expenses for a competition, show, or development, if outside of the local transportation network (such as the STM and RTM)
Accommodation costs during training or during a competition
Professional support fees during training or during a competition
Professional support for talent/performance development
Support for specialized or adaptive equipment
Support for the improvement of services and/or accessibility of parks, upon recommendation of the park committee
Note: Course, membership, and training costs related to the discipline concerned by the request (e.g. a sports club membership) will not be reimbursed.
Terms and Conditions
All requests must include the official form duly completed (available at the Sarto-Desnoyers Community Centre or the City’s website) as well as the required supporting documents.
All requests must be sent by mail or dropped off in person to the Sarto-Desnoyers Community Centre (1335 Lakeshore Drive, Dorval, H9S 2E5) or emailed to FAS@ville.dorval.qc.ca.
All requests (dropped off in person, received by mail or email) will receive an acknowledgement of receipt.
Each request will be sent to the committee and will be evaluated according to its merit and in compliance with the eligibility criteria.
Each applicant will receive a final decision notice in writing, whether favourable or not.
The financial assistance will not be paid directly to the applicant, but rather to the targeted entities, except in the case of a deposit in a compliant expense account.
The evaluation committee must be able to contact, if needed, the persons in charge of the entities mentioned in the request (e.g. competition club, agency, etc.).
If both the applicant and the evaluation committee agree, the applicant could be asked to promote the collaboration through some form of media or promotional exposure.
All applicants who have received funds must fill out and send a summarized report following the event, the activity, or the duration of the financial help, in order to share the benefits of this assistance.
