Free exhibition by artist Sébastien Gaudette
Sébastien Gaudette explores the limits of illusion: shifts in scale and optical illusion effects are used to create evocative stagings of paper. The exhibition Language éphémère brings form and colour into dialogue through drawing and sculpture. Along with a floor installation and large suspended paper sculptures, the artist presents several series of drawings that together form a narrative whole which students will enjoy exploring.
Sébastien Gaudette lives and works in Montréal. After completing his university studies in visual and media arts at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), he began focusing his research on the medium of paper. His works have been exhibited in Québec and across Canada, as well as internationally, where he was invited to show his work at the ArtHelix Gallery in Brooklyn, in addition to presenting at international art fairs in Miami and Seattle. Several of his pieces are now part of public and private collections.
