Call for Submissions - Visual Arts
Every artist, group, or institution wishing to expose their works at the Peter B. Yeomans Cultural Centre must complete a submission proposal.

Mandate
The Peter B. Yeomans Cultural Centre presents quality exhibitions that explore a wide variety of themes, art practices, and mediums. The Cultural Centre actively supports the local and international visual arts community by acknowledging established artists and promoting emerging ones. Through its supplementary cultural mediation and educational programs, the Cultural Centre aims to foster community involvement and help make art accessible to all.
Applicants
The City is seeking professional or semi-professional artists, groups, and organizations. A professional artist is one who meets the definitions established by UNESCO, the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) and the Regroupement des artistes en arts visuels du Québec (RAAV). In keeping with these definitions, a professional artist: produces work on his or her own behalf, is recognized as an artist by peers, and has presented work in a professional context. For emerging artists to be considered, they must be currently producing work on their own behalf, and have presented work in a minimum of one professional context.
Eligible Proposals
- You may submit visual arts proposals only, which includes, but is not limited to paintings, drawings, mixed media, sculptures, and ceramics.
- You may submit a proposal for outdoors or indoors. Please take note of the size limitations for artworks submitted indoors (see plan below).
- You may submit up to 3 proposals per year.
Artistic Proposal Details
- You may submit a proposal at any time. They are reviewed by the City of Dorval’s selection committee every year in June.
- Programming is decided one year in advance, and an acknowledgement of receipt will be sent once a project is submitted. You will only be contacted again if your project is accepted.
- Exhibitions typically last approximately 1.5 months (artworks selected must be available for that time).
- If selected, all artwork must be framed or presented professionally in a manner that satisfies the Selection Committee.
- Providing a rich, cultural, artistic experience to the public is the Cultural Centre’s priority. Selected candidates will receive an exhibition royalty, and have the option to include artwork for sale, however, selling should not be the artist’s primary goal.
