The 2024 budget for the City of Dorval was adopted at a council meeting on December 4, 2023.
This balanced budget of $158,366,000 (a 6.67% increase compared to 2023) is the result of a rigorous planning process and takes into account the current economic situation caused by inflation, the irreducible expenses, and the contractual commitments. It is based on the principle of a sound management of public finance in respect to Dorval residents’ ability to pay.
As for taxation in 2024, despite a 4.6% increase in the Montreal region consumer price index in October (inflation) and despite an increase regarding the Agglomeration payment, the City of Dorval has managed to create a budget with an increase of only 2% on the average residential tax bill.
Unfortunately, to partially compensate for the increase in the Montreal Agglomeration’s share expense, the City will have to increase taxes for non-residential buildings, for industrial buildings, and for immovables consisting of six or more dwellings by 6%.
