With the upcoming arrival of the Réseau express métropolitain (REM), the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is undertaking a major redesign of the bus network in the Centre-Nord and West Island to better connect all modes of public transportation.
The redesigned network aims to make travel easier by improving connections between buses, the métro, commuter trains, taxibuses and the REM. Users will benefit from more direct routes, simplified trips, improved coverage, and expanded evening and weekend service.
The project affects more than 80 bus routes, serves six boroughs and nine linked cities, and covers nearly 40% of the island of Montréal.
Key highlights include:
No official launch date has been confirmed yet. The rollout of the new network depends on the opening of the REM Anse-à-l’Orme branch, expected in spring 2026.
A route simulator is already available to help residents visualize their future trips and prepare for the changes. Information activities and on-site signage will also be rolled out progressively.
