Start of reconstruction work on the Highway 520 overpass above Cavendish Boulevard

The Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable advises road users that reconstruction work on the Highway 520 (Côte-de-Liesse) overpass above Cavendish Boulevard will begin on February 10, 2026. Major traffic disruptions are expected to be implemented as of March 2026.

Work schedule

 The project will be carried out in several phases:

  • February 2026: site mobilization and preparatory work;
  • March to September 2026: reconstruction of the service roads (Côte-de-Liesse Road) in both directions;
  • September to December 2026: reconstruction of the express lanes;
  • Spring 2027: finishing work.

Traffic disruptions and management

Between February 17 and March 2026

  • Partial closures of the express and service lanes of Highway 520 eastbound, between Barr Street and Dalton Road;
  • For heavy vehicles only, right turns from Barr Street onto the eastbound service road of Highway 520 will be prohibited from February 20 to 23.

From March to September 2026

Full closure of Côte-de-Liesse Road:

  • westbound between Isabey Street and Migneron Street;
  • eastbound between Merizzi Street and Dalton Road.

During the closure of the service roads, traffic will be diverted to the express lanes to maintain circulation along this strategic corridor.

Partial closure of Cavendish Boulevard:

  • one lane per direction will remain open;
  • complete nighttime closures are expected during demolition of the overpasses.

Closure of Isabey Street southbound.

Additional disruptions are planned from September to December 2026 for the reconstruction of the express-lane overpass of Highway 520. Further details will be provided by the Ministry through subsequent press releases.

Recommendations to road users

Detour routes will be clearly marked with temporary signage. Periods of congestion are to be expected. Road users are encouraged to allow extra travel time, particularly when travelling to the airport, and to consult
Québec 511 before heading out.

The start of traffic disruptions may be postponed due to unfavourable weather conditions or operational constraints.

The Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable thanks road users for their cooperation and reminds everyone that respecting on-site signage is essential to ensure the safety of both the public and workers.
