The City of Dorval is proud to join many other municipalities and is embarking on the Dandelion Challenge for the second straight year!
The goal of the “Dandelion Challenge” (Défi Pissenlits) is to delay mowing the yard early in the season, particularly so that dandelions can flower and provide a source of nectar and pollen for pollinating insects. There is no explicit time for the campaign – it runs for the flowering season of dandelions, which starts in May and ends at different times each year. Once the yellow petals of dandelions have been replaced with the white seeds (“fluff”), you may resume mowing!
Would you like to participate in the Challenge? Get a free small sign bearing the logo of the Challenge and the City of Dorval (limited quantities). They are available at City Hall, at the Sarto-Desnoyers Community Centre, and at the Surrey Aquatic and Community Centre, during opening hours.
