The 2026 budget for the City of Dorval was adopted during the council meeting on December 15.
This balanced budget of $189,837,000 (a variation of $14M compared to the 2025 projections) is the result of a rigorous planning process and takes into account the increase in the financial contribution to the Montréal Agglomeration, the effects of inflation on the cost of the City’s contractual commitments and the supply of public utility goods and services, as well as the anticipated increase in payroll costs resulting from collective agreements with the City’s employees. It is based on the principle of a sound management of public finance in respect to Dorval residents’ ability to pay.
As for taxation in 2026, despite a Consumer Price Index reaching 3.3% in Quebec, nearly 1% higher than elsewhere in Canada, and despite an increase in contributions to the Montréal Agglomeration, the City of Dorval has succeeded in producing a budget with an average residential tax bill increase of only 0.9% for single-family dwellings and 0.5% for affordable housing units.
