With July 1 approaching, the City of Dorval would like to remind all residents that it is strictly prohibited to dispose of prohibited hazardous materials through regular curbside collections, including garbage, recycling, or organic waste. This directive is in place to ensure the safety of sanitation workers and the community as a whole.
Why is this reminder important?
Every year, dangerous incidents occur in Dorval and across Québec as a result of improper disposal of prohibited hazardous materials. For instance, a forgotten battery inside a toy or the presence of a leaking chemical container in a garbage bag can cause a fire or explosion in a collection truck. Such incidents place workers at serious risk, damage municipal equipment, disrupt services for residents, and result in unnecessary operational costs.
